Officine Meccaniche Gallaratesi S.p.A. was established in 1907
by a group of Milanese entrepreneurs
with the purpose of supplying repair services for the existing failing looms.
They were the golden years of the textile industry. The lack of italian manufacturers
forced local companies to install english looms, equipment that in case of
malfunction could only be repaired by their manufacturers involving lengthy waiting
times and high costs.

During the first few years, the company’s main activity was centred around an engineering workshop and its annexed cast iron foundry and aimed at satisfying the increasing demands of the rapidly expanding Lombardy industry at the start of the century.

The following years the company added the construction of machines to its production, deciding to target the food industry. Production began with dual support kneading machines designed to mix flour and water for industrial bread and pasta production. However, this market proved unremunerative, pushing the company to find another direction more suited to the evolving market.

The first patent for an hollow disc rotary pump was registered in 1918.
The principle patented at the time is being used in a series of pumps still in production.

Around 1945-50, dosing pumps were added to the range of products.
The company’s fiftieth anniversary was celebrated in an excited and evolving atmosphere in 1957.

The 1960’s saw the progressive success of plunger dosing pumps and development of the rotary pumps’ market to include the transfer of liquids such as tar, heavy oils, paint, soap.

During the 70’s the range of dosing pumps has been expanded with the introduction of a new series of double diaphragm pumps suitable for all types of fluids and applications.

In the same 1970’s, OMG expanded its activities to include the design and construction of package dosing systems, manufactured according to customer’s specifications and the main governing standards for Oil & Gas, chemical and petrochemical markets.

During the 1980’s, OMG initiated the introduction of a formalized quality system, with the first complete quality system being adopted in 1992. In the spring of 1996, OMG Quality System was certified as conforming to ISO 9001.

The market for dosing pumps and packages increased progressively from the 1990’s allowing OMG to become one of the main European suppliers / manufacturers in this specialized field and present itself to all the major international engineering companies as a versatile and reliable supplier.

Officine Meccaniche Gallaratesi warmly thanks Staff, Clients and Suppliers whose work and trust have contributed to reach the centenary anniversary.

Thanks to Clients from all over the world who, year after year, renew their trust in OMG.
